There Used to be an Amusement Park.....
You could cross the Hudson and go to Palisades Park, head
north over the Whitestone Bridge to
Freedomland. The Old timers remember North Beach, and Bayside briefly
hosted Kiddy City.
But while Brooklyn had Coney Island - Flushing Queens' heart of activity was
Adventurer's Inn.
In the early 1970's the name changed to The Great Adventure Amusement
Park
Then the rides shut down, eventually the restaurant closed and just before the
Bulldozers
came in 1978 - I walked the park one last time.
